Siberian Rubythroat - guaranteed!

If anyone wants to see one of the above in the UK then all you have to do is book a trip to Shetland ensuring that you arrive on the day I leave and then stay for 4 days. Today's bird is the 4th in the last ten years that's done this. This one was found an hour after I left. Other species that have done the same are Savanna Sparrow, Rufous-tailed Robin and 2 Chestnut-eared Buntings.

Come on now, don't get greedy. Sykes Warbler and Thick flushed sorry I mean Thick-billed Warbler in the bag. You should try pottering around Glamorganshire in October, today's highlight was Yellow T+S sat on top of the recycling roof at Lamby Way tip. Anyway, looking forward to a mainland Thick-billed Warbler to add to my mainland Siberian Rubythroat!

I'd be feeling pretty smug if I'd just come back from Shetland with TBW on my list, seen Rubythroat in India so not too bothered about that!

There's a charter going for £675 !

And David's Rubythroat now I think about it (aka Firethroat). So we'll make that the trio.

I can join the "2 Rubythroats Club" and, in my opinion, Himalayan is the better bird.
I won't be parting with that kind of money for one.
Alex - I actually saw the TBW perched, twice! Ok, so for about 3 seconds in total but better than the views most had.

Also a member of the 2 Rubythroat club. Agree with Seymour that Himalayan is the better one. Saw TBW in China - another brown job !

Thanks Maurice. You bring a bit of class to the CBC 2 Rubythroat club (at last). We're having our annual curry night soon. Anyone want to give the speech and awards?

I'll supply the hot, noxious air to create a realistic, sub-continental atmosphere.....

......thank you Seymour. I would appreciate it if you could refrain from 'dropping the kids off to the pool' durng the meal. Much as I love the 'authentic' sub-continetal atmosphere, I'm not sure Llandaff is quite ready for the full-on No2 in public experience.
