Freight terminal
A quick field trip down on the Cardiff levels this evening (30 minutes or so)produced a Little Owl near the entrance to Freight Terminal. Regular owl safaris are planned now we've established/ identified were's it's safe to search and where there are good vantage points for observation. Get in touch with admin if you'd like to come along. Essentially it's our way of getting LEO on Clive's list and we may even have a beer after.

Thats exactly where i said they would be,i've had 3 together.
Too cold to stay out this morning.
Does anyone own night vision optics if so are they any good?
As part of the 'techniques' we're employing, a very expensive pair of night vision goggles are being employed. However, I suspect we'll have equally good results with the more tradtional field techniques. Probably out again tonight.
Lidl's or is it Aldi's advertised some night vision gear for a £100 recently,so a mate told me.Don't know if they're any good though.
How often do you go out and have you had any results yet?
Last night was our first venture out. Looking for good spots to work from. We were out for less than an hour and our first stop produced a Little Owl. Now we've got some suitable sites we'll get whenever anyone's free, trying to locate LEOs is obviously the main cause, and I suspect there's also a good chance of seeing some of the nocturnal mammal species as well.
