WeBS at Rhymney Est - Green Pt 12.5 m tide this morning:
Redshank 1000, Shelduck 300, Blackwit 2, Whimbrel 1, Curlew 1, Teal 6, Mallard 100, Common Sand 1, Dunlin 24, Ringed Plover 15, Pintail 16 fem types, Wigeon 1, Little Egret 1, the hybrid Ruddy Shelduck type thingy. Nice pix of your Barwit Rob. The Blackwits were in with the 1000 Redhsank.
Re Green Point - you now have to step over an electrifed wire [powered by a couple of car batteries to keep in the tinkers horses when they are there]. The reed bed which used to be good for Jack Snipe and Reed Bunt has now been completely destroyed, by dumping, trampling and quad bikes.
Whilst on favoured locations, has Meriwether been to the 'hide' at Lavernock Wt reserve recently? Last time I was there, someone had obviously had a party in it as the main viewing area was full of ash and unburnt bits of tree, plus a few bottles and cans - a b4 you ask I didn't have time to tidy it up, sorry :-)

I have literally just left Lavernock reserve the 'hide' is now clear of debris. On the birding front, there were more F'ing chuffers than birds!
Unfortunately it does attract 'em, particularly around the old gun emplacements. Bloody nuisance - I wish they'd go and chuff somewhere else.
Kids from the caravan site party in the seawatch hide - I suppose that Jeff C & co cleaned the hide - can't imagine the parents and friends of the caravanites doing it. As for the other types - we cannot say anything about them - it's the law. They can do what they like, where they like and two fingers to polite society.
