Oooh, getting close now Alex?
tickin' like a clock.
I believe Alex may just have done it, and with 2 months to go, that's an excellent achievement. It's no mean feat going for a year list. Looks like the SRG Tankard* will be winging its way to Penarth. Formal ceremony at Portly's Christmas soiree. Along with more dubious awards I've no doubt.
*: SRG = Stefan's initials. The Cardiff B's always remember their mates!!
what else do you need now alex?
Easiest bird left is Black Redstart. Still plenty of others such as Firecrest or Ring Ouzel for example and this year has been terrible for stuff like Iceland, Glaucous & Ring-billed Gull. Seawatching has been poor as well and we have yet to see a "blow the slates of the roof" gale. A good blow like last November could add another 4+ species. I guess Highlander is hoping for the same !!!! Anyway, the general feeling is that November is often the best month for Glamorgan birding so let's see what the next month brings. The down side is with the light fading there is little time to get out and about before or after work. With a good run of birds 170 is a possibility.
looking good for waxwing too, although before 13st Dec might be asking a bit much, black red should be a banker, ring ouzel seem to turn up every autumn particularly at Lamby lake, firecrest and yellow-browed are also good possibilities.
Have you got lesser-pecker? Goshawk?
No Goshawk, LSW heard only.
