Looked out of the office window lunchtime at a comotion with Jackdaws and gulls to see an Eagle Owl perched on the top of the floodlight pole in our yard.
Took a crappy record pic with my phone,Teresa dropped my camera in on her way up to town but didn't see the bird again.
That's a Magpie on the left pushing it's luck for a good size comparison !!

Brilliant comparison shot jeff, can you e mail me the photo please
Nice one Jeff, had 2 possible reports of it this week.
Stonking pic.
There are at least two birds in the valley. This one may be the escaped one from Garth last year (I haven't heard of it being recaptured), while the other roosts by day on one of several cliffs and by night comes into Maesteg and feasts on a diet of cats - just have a look at the lost pets section in the market pet shop its hilarious - there's all the usual names like spot, ginger and patch, but my personal favourite was last year when a cat called "Bernard" went missing. I think they are both male( the wild one def.) so no chance of breeding or we could have the only Gay Eagle Owls in the village jokes aplenty.
I was told today mart, that the bird that escaped from garth is a female bird so you never know?
Jeff are you sure the photo was taken in the valley, that sky looks a bit too blue;-0
Just wish that the people who buy these birds managed to look after them instead of letting them go wild as it ain't just cats they eat!
