Lanzarote March 2011

Good to see these specialities doing well despite massive development.
Cream coloured Courser evaded me however!
Jeff will be delighted to know that the lens for these shots was the Sigma 150-500 - all at 500mm with only slight cropping.
Thanks to Slap for placing my flickr pages on links from this site - have a ''butchers!'' chaps.

yes, tis a very good lens, I meet more people who are getting good results with it, though I did hear not so good with 7D & I think it was a 1D, body, auto focusing probs, great shots Smudger !

Great set of shots Rich, great light will always make the difference, interesting comments by Cliff and I've read on several forums that people have experienced difficulties with both the 7D and the "Bigma".
Having said that and having read their comments most of the people who complain of difficulties don't want to spend the time "learning" the camera or the lens and would be better off buying a point and shoot compact. You can't take the kit out of the boxes and expect to become an instant Andy Rouse or Huge Parrot overnight !!
I'm well chuffed with both my 7D and "Bigma" and like Smudger and Mitch have obtained some really great results.
OK it's not going to give you the superb crisp detail that a £5K long prime is going to give you and the difference is noticable but what fantastic value for money

yes I had a look at jalbum. Very nice ideas on layout but I would very quickly take up the free space of 30mb. So I would need to upgrade almost straight away to 1gig and that is 24euros/annum
flickr gives 300mb free and my site is already full. So if I have to I can upgrade there for less cost - just a few dollars /annum.

One for TIGER - I am having no problems with the 7D Sigma combo but its not a fast focussing as the CANON 400F4 USM.
its a handy lens for holidays though.

Yep,first digital SLR after several years digiscoping and using a Canon A1 35mm with motodrive and a couple of good Tamron lenses throughout the 80s + 90s,had put off buying a digital SLR for years fearful of the money I'd end up spending building up a system - too late now,no turning back !!

Hi Rich, I`ve been building a site with Webstarts.com
It all became expensive and difficult to build, I had 4 or 5 sites on the go and was about to give up when I discovered this one.
First year is about £50 Then the next year is about £80 for the year.
I have uploaded about 370 shots so far, VERY time consuming, only doing about 15 a night. But have only used about 4% of space. The site is reasonably easy to use when you get used to it and would recommend it if anyone feels like doing their own.
Will set a link on here after i`ve added more shots.
