This is a much better shot than everyone elses, plus it was taken today, which as you know Mitch was the connoissieurs choice of days to see it. I particularly like the bokeh colour of the grass in the background which highlights the thing which seperates this bird from say a puffin or a blue-beared bee-eater. The yellow lichen on the rock also reflects well in the breast colouration which is useful in ruling out harpy eagle. All in all a very educational bird to us non-serious types who inhabitat the stagnant pool of the very worst types to go bird spotting. I left feeling that if I were serious birder I'd never again leave home without my well worn copy of Mitchel-Beazely and a serious birders telephone number.

I am available for more general criticism of images as and when they arrive on CBC 1, or for one to one abuse sessions please visit my latest commercial venture www.spankyspankynaughtynaughtybirdphotography.com.

Did you avoid going yesterday because you feared a beasting from a queue of people headed by the Maestegi?

Not at all Seymour. I was ironing my best shorts. The little Maestegi and their friends can beast me anytime.

Look I need to go into training. Lift some weights, do some squats, few press ups and buy a mouthguard. Duck and weave, feint with the left, big right over the top.

My zen master and training partner has the following training advice in this demonstration video:
