Bitterns - A VERY, VERY, VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE

Could birders please remember to spare a thought for bitterns in Cardiff this winter? Please respect that their functional response is at its height during freezing conditions and that running into reedbeds with your arms flailing to flush them really, really is bad form. Not to mention the disturbance caused to every other species utilising this habitat and the fact that you will be destroying a UKBAP priority habitat (reedbed) to boot (quite literally). Thanks.

Birders are also reminded that throwing stones into reed beds just to gain sight of something like a Cetti's warbler is poor show too.

who in their right mind, would go into a reed bed anyway?

No he's not. I'm round at mine trying to get the vicar dibley's telephone number. I've got important news for her.
