Dutch Black-headed Gull E2CV was back at Cosmeston today. Ringed in the Netherlands on 13/6/2007, subsequently seen at Cosmeston on 4/10/2007. I saw this bird at Cosmeston in Nov 2009 and now back for its fifth winter. 
Also colour ringed Lesser Black Backed Gull.So there you have it. Gulls much more interesting than those boring old owls.

Thanks Slap. Really pleased to have finally nailed it! The sore backside from many hours sat in the Cafe, aching legs from constant trips back and fore to the food counter and lead filled arms from having to carry my tripod the 4 feet from my car to the birds have really taken its toll. But it's been worth it in the end. I know others will be rushing down to try and get better but can I just ask that people don't push it too much. (wader - the warden had asked if you can stay out of the water so as not to disturb the model boats and canoes, ta)
Superb Alex! Will I need to use the hide or do they come to bread! Photographed a B H Gull ringed in Belgium once. Brilliant!
I am afraid bread is an absolute no no following a rather unsavoury incident down west when attempts to lure a RB Gull led to serious psychological effects for the bird concerned and a major breakdown in field craft. I would go with the bag hide. Hoping to get back down myself when light improves.
LBBGull HVP - ringed Stoke Orchard, Gloucs 30/1/2010. Seen Edinburgh Aug 2010, Stoke Orchard Sept 2010, Cosmeston Dec 2010, Bartley Res West Mids Dec 2010,then no further sightings until Cosmeston this October.
what lens did you use? I will have to save for one of them!
