Ok fellow re-sizing strugglers here's what I did :-
I by the sound of it like lots of others have been using the "original" Google Blogger template since 2005,from the instructions Slap gave I took a punt on there being a newer version and googled "new google blogger template".
Came up with lots of links, clicked on a couple and found a newer loading template, clicked on "make this my default" and gave it a try.
Layout is quite different but will get used to it.
Loaded up as per Slap's instructions, photo turns Blue, chose "extra large" and bingo !! There you have it,as "extra large" as life.

Hi Cliff, the two owl pics I've uploaded are "extra large" and in fact the LO is larger than the SEO.If you right click on any photo on the blog you will get the size w x h in pixels.
"Large" photos are all 400p wide and "extra large" are all 640p wide, the heights will vary according to the original crop.
The LO is 554p h and the SEO is 506p h,therefore the LO is slightly the larger,Rob's SEO is 424p h so it appears narrower, all to do with the original size.
Not sure if that helps at all.

Should have said that when you right click it brings up a selection of which "Properties" is usually at the bottom, click on properties and you will get the pixel dimensions amongst other info.
