Aye, what,pardon!!
Here` s a shot, not of a hind toe but an Owl`s ear.
Behind the the facial disc is the ear. You can make out the hole...Note no wax. This Owl is a good Owl.
I hope no owls were disturbed during the taking of these shots. Lodging a bank vole up this poor critters arse just to get this shot is pushing things to the limit of acceptable behaviour.
