Paddyfield Warbler

Recovered from Flu enough to go for this bird yesterday. First world tick in Britain since Long-Billed Murralet. Also got the Spanish Sparrow and Junco (Not a tick). First time for 2 British ticks in a day since Scillies 1985 !

And what were the two ticks in 1985? And while I'm here, what was your first ever twitch and what century did it occur?

Black-billed and Yellow- billed cuckoos. Can't really remember first twitch but may have been Red Footed falcon at Kenfig or Great Grey Shrike at Oxwich probably in about 1972. Before that was a garden/Rpl birder. Tiger was well underway by then however.

I have it from the very 'horses' mouth' that Tiger has officially retired from twitching. Having finally got to 250 UK ticks he's decided to hang up his twitching boots and take up base jumping.

A quick check puts me on 450 for BOU or at least 10 more following the gospel according to St. Lee.
Only had 2 or 3 ticks in the last 10 years before retiring but have picked up the tempo a bit since then. Trouble is they keep moving the goalposts !
