I spent 2 hours there and got 4 views,the fourth view was best it came out and sat in the open,great scope views but didn't bother taking the camera out.
Yes Maurice there would be crippling shots if the snappers were not held back by the scopers - wait a while!! This bird is probably extremely tame like the rest of its breed - and should allow approach to within a couple of yards. But at the risk of reputation I think the photographers have had to content themselves with pics from 50 yds away. i.e. mostly rubbish - like mine!

Looking at Surfbirds etc. seems that the bird has been targeted by many lenses. Best up to now appears to be Mike Malpass's on Rare Bird Alert.
