And there you have it!!!! Orca gets it right! thought they would somehow!

Bay of Biscay trip 14th-16th August 2012

We encountered unsettled weather on our last Biscay trip which made it more of a challenging task to find whales and dolphins in rough seas but as we made progress South towards Santander the weather improved by late afternoon and we started having good sightings of animals. We had some excitement on deck as we came across a breaching large ‘rorqual whale’ a few hundred metres off the starboard side of the ship which some of the guides initially thought was a Humpback Whale but in the cold light of day and following intense discussion back on shore with all the experienced guides and expert spotters who were on board we have come to the conclusion that the animal we saw was in fact a Fin Whale. Sometimes it’s not easy making a positive identification when the conditions are not perfect.

Few hundred meters ?

I wonder who prompted this reversal of opinion?? I would've estimated that the "whale" was approx. 400 - 500 metres so "a few hundred" may be a bit optimistic!
