Cardiff Bay Curlew - Extinct
It comes with great sadness and not a small amount of 'I told you so' that the CBC as a species is now thought beyond any reasonable doubt to be EXTINCT. Recent exhaustive fieldwork at both the Bay and at their nocturnal breeding grounds at Rhymney Great Wharf has failed to find any trace of the species since the last sightings there in April of this year.
We lament this sad loss to biological science.

Perhaps they could name a pub after it like the Oystercatcher.
Or the merrie harrier.
