judging by the glossy pale patch on wing richard without hearing it call i would say willow tit

Hi Rich, your comment was not deleted on my post !?
Very nice photo, pale bill patch at base of nostril would indicate Marsh but could be a light reflection.
Extensive white cheeks and "bull" neck would indicate Willow but the "bull" neck could just be posture.
It's a bit of a dilemma but I would go for Willow but not certain, the really only reliable way of telling is call/song and the birds that I photographed last weekend were both at reliable sites for the different species and both were very vocal so I had no doubt as to ID.

We may have to await the return home of Cardiff's premier expert on tits before we get to the bottom of this one.

I think the TIT expert would get this right away!
Given that Red breasted Nuthatch and other small nearctic birds arrive in Britain each year I wonder if these are ever overlooked!
Its a Black capped Chickadee photographed in Bangor
Erm! not the one in Wales.

Devious b*****d !!

I got a hunch this is going to be a Marsh Tit - the bright sunlight or fill-in flash, as the case may be, has lighlighted the head & back, also when the bird leaning downwards can give a "bull-necked" appearance but call is the clincher of course

Cliff - We are getting concerned about you !!
The answer to my post is also in the comments, Paul got it correct.
