Can't be long until the first Honey Buzzards ?

( So you know it's genuine ).
This seems to apply that Martin Bevan and myself do not know how to identify a Great Grey Shrike although we have found plenty over the previous 7 years or that we could be stringing.

Sorry Phil, but the only person implying anything dubious regarding GGS records here is you? The reference used is directed elsewhere, but thanks for posting anyway.

Slaphead said...

I think you should read the 1st and 2nd post in this thread.

Slaphead said...

make that the first 3 posts in this thread.

Phil Hill said...

I didn't mention GGS records, I mentioned the title of your post which affects Martin and myself has we found the shrike

Slaphead said...

Well, the above evidence would deem it only seems to be you reading it that way mate.

Phil Hill said...

I was told about it by a number of friends who read it the same way as myself. There is only one bird mentioned in the original post and that affects us.

Slaphead said...

For fuck sake,IT IS NOT, repeat, IT IS NOT about you or directed at you or implying it is you or mentioning you or pointing fingers at you or even hinting it is you.I suggest you read the first 3 posts in the thread.

Phil Hill said...

I have read the first three comments because I clicked on the comment page, not everyone does and they would form the same opinion as us if they just read the original post on the main page.

Phil, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.(you could make it into burgers though).

If people only want to read a thread title, then choose not to read the subsequent post/s and make an informed decision on its content, then I'm afraid there is fuck all we can do about it.Either that or someone is,perhaps, shit stirring??........ now there's a thought..

Phil Hill said...

Now here's another thought, perhaps you could just say you were wrong with your original post

Slaphead said...

wrong about what?

Steve Hinton said...

Phil, you have taken it the wrong way, nobody is questioning your Shrike. It was a sarcastic pop at this time of year when there are lots of rediculous claims on migrants on the other channel, hence the yellow wag, cuckoo and Honey Buzzards!
Phil Bristow is a good birder and if he says he has a .. Thrush nightingale or something else he would never be doubted.
Well done on finding anything at all it's been dire this winter!

Phil Hill said...

Steve,
Other people have seen this and have read it the same way. If you take all the postings together they would seem to having a pop at all the sightings including the shrike. It also reads that the shrike is only genuine because Phil Bristow has seen it.

Slaphead said...

NO IT DOES'NT PHIL, IT READS THAT CUCKOO/YELLOW WAGTAIL IN EARLY MARCH, OUT OF HABITAT ARE BOLLOCKS,IT ALSO READS THAT IT WILL NOT BE LONG BEFORE SOME WANKER CLAIMS HONEY BUZZARD (ON A BUSH NO LESS) AND DEFENDS IT BECAUSE 'I HAVE SEEN LOADS ABROAD'.

Can we please draw a line under this now? pretty please?.

Steve Hinton said...

I can see your point, but believe me, the post has nothing todo with you and Martin and the Shrike. Only a pop at the other channel!

Phil Hill said...

Thank you Steve, no need to shout Nigel but why use the shrike if it's about the Cuckoo / Yellow Shrike and Honey Buzzard.

Slaphead said...

Because the shrike is genuine, probably,or indeed most likely unlike the other claims, simple.
