Surf Scoter

I see there is a drake well inland at Lake Vyrnwy. We saw a few Velvet Scoter in Sweden on a lake a long way from the sea but an inland Surfie in July is a fab record. I seem to recall there was one on Eglwys some time ago although slightly closer to the sea. However with current access arrangements who knows they might even be breeding there! Mental note to crank my neck to the left next time I am heading down the M4.

There's been a good smattering of Surfies around in the last week or so. The first record for The Farnes was found in June 03, have you seen what's turned up there yesterday? What I would have given to swap a Surfie for a Bridled Tern....ahhhh!

Ummm. Bridled Tern. Fond memories indeed. 1988 seems such a long time ago.
