What Next for the Glamorgan List ?

I see the BBRC have accepted last year's Black-headed Bunting in Glam and Carms. They have also announced the taxonomy criteria for assessing vagrant Canada Geese records, so hopefully the Res Cackling Goose will be in with a shout ;-)

My money is on Wilson's Phalarope, which will be a long over due addition but as long as it's not at Whitford Point !!!

Has Caspian gull been accepted yet?

I am not even sure if there are any fully accepted Welsh records yet, although there have been some good shouts in recent years. It's probably going to take a well photographed or observed bird. Roath Park or Cosmeston ??

did many people manage to catch up with the BHB in Glamorganshire then?

The lack of rarities since the county became 'jinxed' doesn't suggest we should hold our breath for a Glamorgan tick in the near future....although recent news of the long staying Purplish Heron at the Kenfig rivermouth could be a new species to science?

Blue-winged Teal and American Golden Plover are long overdue additions to the Glamorgan List, but the next new species will probably be something completely unexpected....who would have predicted Bobolink for instance!

Or that another would turn up at Kenfig the very next week. You just never know what's round the corner. Incredible stuff!

Glaucous-winged Gull nearly made it !

Blue-winged Teal & American Golden Plover are both good shouts, we have had both not too far away in Carms in recent years. The GW Gull must have flown through Glamorganshire at some point so very much one that got away.

The GW Gull chased the Frigate bird and YN Albert straight passed Lavernock point.
