Nigel's Grouse (digitally enhanced)

Unmarked Grey nape and collar, only slight pale fringing of breast, clearly pale and largely unmarked belly would point to female Blue Grouse.

Dusky or Sooty;-) good job we have a rough idea where the photo was taken! Colorado is the place for Grouse, we pretty much cleaned up.

Ps, until you digitally enhanced it, my money was on farm yard Chicken !!

The old Peterson American guide described the family as 'Chicken-like Birds'.
