I forgot to mention I had my first Pintail of the autumn there yesterday (5) and also a monsterous juv Peregrine (the WTW tip is a great place to see peregrine, especially on afternoon high tides as they use the tip to hunt from with the sun behind them for cover).

The High Tide wader roost on the beach between here and the traveller camp is a little known but often interesting area to watch gathering waders and shelduck congregate on the incoming tide. In fact, the tip-top is arguably one of the best places along the Severn to watch the awe and splendour of the Severn estuary doing what it does best.

Increasing scrub cover on the tip must surely make it the 'must watch' site for migrants this and many more autumns to come (if you encounter any problems fom the locals, just tell them that 'Gypsy Pete' says it's ok. He's a mate of mine)

I had a look at the incoming waders by the site which held c70 Oystercatchers and c30 Redshank. The scrub here does look pretty good. There was also c80 Goldfinch and a few Linnet and Greenfinch.I see a seat has been provided on top now which will come in handy. All we need now is a wind breaker for those s westerlies.

This site is better than Lavernock by a country mile. It just needs people to get out there and bird it.

Better than Larnog - never!! Once its had ortalan, stone curlew and sibe blue robin then you can start waxing lyrical old bean! Not forgetting the misty bee-eater!
