Forest Farm today
After a fruitless trip to RGW where 7 SEOs were seen but all flew out to marsh I called back in to Forest Farm where at least the Kingfishers were a little more cooperative,2 females were seen.............
Jeff, is that the marsh between the coastal path and the sea at RGW? Or is there another marsh nearby they are heading for? For my day of observations etc I don't need to be really close to them. Just need them in reasonable view some of the time.
Hello Bryan, Merry Christmas to you,at RGW there is a large sea protection bank on top of which the coastal path runs,on the seaward side the bank drops to a rough grass area approx 70-80m wide,at the edge of the rough grass area it is protected by large stone boulders and the ground drops to a large area of Spartina as far as the sea which is referred to as the marsh Hope this is helpful. Many thanks again: that seems to fit with their "normal" behaviour: if such a term can ever be used for such a nomadic creature. I want to come down very soon but am having to wait not only for a decent day down at RGW, but also for a day when travelling to and from Kent avoids one of the current spate of storms! Any further updates in the meantime would be very helpful: I can be found as KentYeti on the Wild About Britain bird forum.
