All i can say is shocking and a bit selfish had a phone call 2 minutes before we arrived to say that it was showing well on the beach, but when we arrived was told that 2 persons had walked up the beach from the crowd of birders (who were staying a safe distance with good views of the bird)to try and get a photograph of the bird, and in doing so flushed the bird and was only seen from distance briefly before dissapearing, you know who you are and you should know better, it's not fair for other people who make the effort to see this bird, and wont get another chance until next weekend because of work. All for what? a photo that you didnt even get! Don't take it personal lads it's just something that has to be said on behalf of not just myself but others who were really pissed off today.

Come on, spill the beans..... Phil, you must have been there when this happened

I arrived after it had happened, but heard the complaints from those who were there, and if they are reflective of events then I can only echo's Paul's justifiable frustration.

Had great views several times on the river and going out to sea and so did a lot of other birders you just had to put in the time last seen going into the docks

Alun spent an hour and half looking for the bird, it's not a case of looking for the bird, the bird was there for all to see.Just look at jeffs photo's it clarify's what people said the bird was quite content sitting on the beach until.... i would loved to have seen the image that's in jeff's photo, but prob won't get another chance.

I'm not sure there's been such a scandal since the Bobolink was flushed to death (...only to come back to life a few days later).
