Goldcliff.

13 Avocets,5 Greenshanks, 4 or 5 L R Plovers, about 30 B T Godwits ,and small groups of Redshank and Dunlin present. I was told that out of 39 Avocet nests found none managed to raise any young, all predated ! Bloody tragic !!!!!

Mitch, its not tragic it's more about possible poor management. They know which are the avian predators & whilst I do not advocate killing crows/buzzards/herons there are other possible solutions. 39 Avocet nests = upwards of 100 chicks. I have suggested taking the 'culprits' into captivity until the young Avocet's fledge. One other idea is supplementary feeding near the offending predators nest.
They have kept foxes & other ground predators out, next year they really need to give serious thought to somehow stopping the avian predators.

I'm told it's a Buzzard that's acquired a taste for the Chicks,if it is just a single bird then the answer would be a lot easier.

Yes, this is disappointing, and negates the considerable effort and success that has gone into managing the reserve making so appealing to Avocet in the first place. On a positive note, it is good to see that Little Ringed Plover has been rather productive at the site.
