Seawatching

Porthcawl am - tough going particularly as news started filtering through of Leach's Petrel every where but here. News of the Black Gulliemot at Goldcliff was nearly the nail in the coffin. Anyway, persistence paid off when MH picked up a Leach's Petrel just before midday. Otherwise a few Common Scoter, a Great Northern Diver sat on the sea and a Shag were of note.

Cardiff Heliport - after a short lunch break. A transfer of location in the hope of catching a Leach's heading back down channel in the dropping wind. Even fewer seabirds than Porthcawl but at 15:20 the plan kicked into gear when a single Leach's Petrel headed past and on towards Flat Holm.
