Steve,I have 3 numbers left since Vodafone deleted all my info and my net is (14 days) down after god knows how many promises from Sky,they have 48hrs left before I change provider.Still I'm reluctant to pass info on after missing a few last year.

Unfortunately I fear you are correct Steve - the grape vine has withered .There was talk some time ago in the Gower regarding this very subject, turns out it was all just hot air.It is all rather sad really, particularly when you consider that some people are local or county listers and maybe one day those very people will regret or rue the fact that they will end up missing "a biggie in Glamorgan" and all because the news either did'nt get out or it was only shared with 'the chosen few'.

Had a few phone calls been made yesterday I am quite certain that there would have been numerous others down west looking for a bee eater and you never know, perhaps even bumping into it before it went further west?

Rant over.
In reply to Clive, its a 2 way radio mate.

Lets face it with alledged Global warming/climate change/ climate disruption(extra taxes thats all no need to panic)I would have thought that grapes and their vines would have flourished

That's not a rant Clive, there has to be at least 5 twenty word sentences for it to be a rant

You've never phoned anyone with news of any of the 'rare' birds you've found Clive? Yet you expect news to come to you regardless? It doesn't work like that old boy! Personally I don't expect to get news from anyone I don't let know of news myself and I imagine it's much the same for everyone else? Just a thought?

can we have an Amnesty where people can come clean about birds we /they had to suppress from the general masses?

Randal you were 8 letters short of a rant with that last post, you are slipping

I'll try again.....

How's that? And yes, for the general hilarity it would no doubt cause an amnesty has now been granted. You have 48 hours to get it off your chest or you'll be forceably beaten with Clive's book on finding rare birds called 'Clive of the Wharf'. It's a bit like the Collins field guide only you get to colour in the pictures yourself.

Lets face it there ain't no fcuking grapevine , you got the Bridgend clique who post fcuk all, you got the Port Talbot clique who like to half mention where things are then say its a private site. You got the Maestegi who tell you fcuk all unless they need help finding the bird.
Then you got the far west boys who just nick your birds but tell you fcuk all. You Cardiff birders get the news out but generally don't find fcuk all. Then theres the Darkland schedule 1 nest finders who by law have to suppress what we find, and get told fcuk all about birds even though we are licenced for them
Then you got the where are they now bunch, who used to always fill the airwaves with their propaganda till they got what they wanted then its fcuk you all(you know who you are)

Randal M Snowdrop said...

You left out a critique of birders from Caerphilly and Bonvilston. Any thoughts?

What about the headlanders of Penarth town??!!

Anonymous said...

As for CAERPHILLY if you can't id the basic birds then you've wasted your money and the lecturers time on the course you've taken.
Don't know anyone from Penarth only JW and he's ok( especially now as im not banished from the other channel).
As Im in an anti suppressing mood who hasn't seen any Honeys this year?

Misty - most of us here in Metropolis (says me on Barry Island) don't find many unusual birds because we are bound by the shackles of full time employment (which, not without irony, raises the taxes to fund the people who do find their fair share). Anyway, I'm off to Shetland for a few days to see some proper birds and avoid the vitriol....

Seymour surely a man as wise as yourself didn't take my words seriously, you city types need to take the joke, you make enough of them at the Maestegii expense.
I'll have you know who from middle earth complaining on the blower now.
have some good birding up there guy and watch the Whale sperm

Cheers Misty; sorry if my loose words cause a jam the phone line up there.

To be honest despite what I posted earlier I did indeed receive a text about said bird.
So a few suggestions,1 if I had any contact number from Cardiff I could have passed on the message.
2 there are several species of schedule 1 birds that I am licensed for, perhaps if people shared this data these species can be properly documented.
So, basically if we all pull together things will improve, otherwise its just going to get more fractured.
