And now for something completely different.


Great-crested newt egg. I spent weeks in my hide, dressed head to foot in camouflage waiting for someone with the appropriate gcn licence to come along and pick this out of the pond so I could get this shot. Next week I'm going to set up my hide in the Rocking Horse Department of Hamleys in the hope of getting a shot of that holy grail of wildlife shots, rocking horse shit.

Great Diving Beetle Dytiscus marginalis. I tape lured this male by dropping the house mains cable into my pond and netting out the casualties.
