Sightings

Cardiff heliport: Brambling (1, heading north-east), Wheatear (1).

Rhymney Estuary: highlight was the juv Hobby, as Alex and Clive say, found on the ground next to the path at the far end of Cors Crychydd, being mobbed by Long-tailed Tit. Picked it up and it promptly sunk its talons and bill into my hand. No outward sign of any injury or illness, but judging from the prominence of the breast bone it would seem it is underweight (bit like it's handler). Following being photographed, flew off to the tip on release.

Late news from yesterday: Lavernock - Merlin (1); Llanishen Res - Little Egret (1), Jackdaw (600 at pre-roost gathering)
