I think this has been discussed before but I'm happy to setup/join a text group that we can share significant sightings news in. I guess these exist in some cliques but it would be nice to cut the crap out and just share these sightings so that everyone can enjoy these birds.
BTW, could I find any info on the Gwent White Stork sighting last night?!! No chance!
I`m not one to go on and on but Ian had realized that the Grebe was schedule one and done the correct thing in keeping the location quiet, but, it is not going to breed and it`s whereabouts would be appreciated!
Chris:couple of postings about the White Stork on Gwent Birds today, seen this a.m by Nathan.
BTW,wouldn't mind a crack at photographing a summer plumaged BN Grebe myself !!
Jeff:I noticed the Gwent Stork posted at 7 last night. I make Chepstow in < 20 mins from my house = still plenty of daylight. I guess it was at its roosting spot but alas no info.
It's all about who you know it seems and when you're a parent of little nippers, there's no time to get to know people let alone get out and find these birds. I had to get back by 7:30am yesterday morning, hence feeling fairly fortunate seeing the Stork for all of 2 minutes in the gloom...
I know the Grebe is schedule 1 but I can assume there is only one and when was the last breeding record for the county? I can possibly guess where it might be but as mentioned above I haven't got time to check out all these places. Once I win the lottery I'll right all the wrongs and spread the love :)
Yes Chris, try the car park at the Hawfinch site, I would imagine it`s free there!!
Where were you all when there were three at Lisvane res a few years ago!!! I have slides - haha!
I don't see any reason to suppress a fairly regular event. Its not schedule 1 on passage if so we'd all be locked up for a PAIR of Dotterel wouldn't we?
However all this whinging does nothing but add fuel to the anti photographer brigade
Sorry Rich, sit back and ignore ,I can`t!! Something has to be said! and we still don`t know!! and why not?
