G G Shrike, Garw nant.


Present all day although went missing for long periods.Digiscoped only,too bloody far for anything else. Very wary bird.Also Merlin,Kites and Tawny Owl calling just behind me,Crossbills everywhere.

Great shots Rob,did you digi-scope it with your SLR or use a compact ?
Will go and have a look for it if we're up the caravan next weekend.

Hi Jeff,i used a compact hand held.The Shrike is in the same clear fell area as last winter but is very wary,perhaps this will change in time. Oh! take your wellies!

Nice to see that two pair of Red Backed Shrike bred on Dartmoor, up from a single pair last season.
Just goes to show what we could have had in Wales if some tidy people were monitoring the ones that bred here
